GNU Girls shredit from last seasons footage, featuring Bryn Valaika, Mari Mizukami, Danyale Patterson, Kaitlyn Farrington, Maribeth Swetkoff, Michelle Zeller, Sandra Hillen, and Terri Mayrer with Special Guest: Janna Meyen Weatherby.
Kaitlyn has been in New Zealand for most of August, no doubt enjoying everything there is to do there! She had a great start to her season, placing 4th in the NZ Open Pipe and winning Best Trick on her B-pro C2!
The Gnu Girls had a great showing at the Roxy Chicken Jam last weekend. Everyone was there to ride a legit park setup and have fun in some perfect spring Mammoth conditions. (At least it was when the wind wasn’t blowing 50 miles per hour) Bryn, Maribeth, and Kaitlyn were there along with Sandra Hillen and Michelle Zeller. Bryn and Maribeth were right at home in Mammoth’s slopestyle course and Kaitlyn took advantage of the spring conditions to play around in the perfect Mammoth superpipe.

The level of women’s snowboarding there was inspiring, and seeing all these girls together was pretty impressive. The Chicken Jam is an impressive gathering of the best female competitors from all over the world! This was a good warmup for Ms Superpark for Maribeth, Bryn and Sandra. Kaitlyn Farrington is on fire, she just took 2nd at the US Open in the Halfpipe on her Gnu C2 Power Banana! Just after she won her first X-Games Halfpipe gold medal at the inaugural Winter X Games Europe in Tignes, France.
Check out the video from the US Open!
Farrington surprised everyone by upsetting reigning Olympic Halfpipe Gold Medalist Torah Bright by a full two points. Using her Gnu C2 Power Banana, Kaitlyn linked together an impressive run featuring a backside 540, stalefish air, backside 900, frontside 720, and cab 720.
Gnu Women’s Team Manager, Barrett Christy, shared her enthusiasm. “Kaitlyn has been getting better with each event this year. At this first European X-Games she threw down a run to rival gold medalist Torah Bright’s; it was technical, powerful, and smooth. I love how they are both pushing the level of women’s riding these days with big cab spins, inverted rotations, and style for miles. Kaitlyn has what it takes and I’m not at all surprised she won Euro X! I’m so proud of her, she deserves it and I can’t wait to see what she’s going to do next!”
Kaitlyn’s European X-Games gold medal has been another great achievement in an outstanding season for the promising young 20-year-old. Earlier this year she secured the 2nd Annual Dew Cup Halfpipe Title by winning the third and final stop at Mount Snow, VT.
GNU Team Riders, Mathieu Crepel, Kaitlyn Farrington, and Danny Kass will be riding their Bananas and Pickles at Winter X Games Europe March 10-12, held in Tignes, France.
Unless your in France your best bet to watch the action live is on ESPN 360
Kaitlyn followed up her 2nd place Dew Tour finish with a 3rd at the final Grand Prix event in Park City, Utah Jan 23, 2010. She proved she’s among the best female pipe riders in the world right now and she missed the Olympic team selection by only 2 spots, finishing 6th overall. GNU is proud of her! Keep an eye out for Kaitlyn at the X Games, she’s got a run that could easily put her on the podium there next week!
Congratulations to Kaitlyn Farrington for her 2nd Place!
“Kaitlyn rode with authority, punishing her board with heavy tweaks and a ridiculous array of spins. The Farrington tornado began with some 540s, one with crazy cork, 720s and even a freaking cab 900. The full run and big spins got the crowd roaring, but roars quickly turned to boos when her score was announced. Either way, Kaitlyn left Snowbasin with both a smile on her face and a 2nd place trophy in her backpack.” -Nick Lipton
