Gnu Snowboards’ traveling mini-shred tour finished off in grand fashion at Washington’s Summit at Snoqualmie resort. After stoking out kids and parents in a full gamet of conditions at Brighton, Loon Mountain, Mount Seymour and Sierra-at-Tahoe we were treated to broken blue skies and sun during one of the snowiest springs in NW history. This was actually the fist time the GHG has ever had sun in it’s five year run at the Summit, and the kids wasted little time in destroying all the features the park crew had assembled. 60 kids from age 3 up to 13 years and 364 days old learned new tricks, met new friends, had lunch served to them by Pete Saari (Mervin Mfg), John Logic (Snowboard Connection) and Johan Malkoski (C3 Worldwide), got pointers from NW Lib Tech shred and sitting Mayor of Tube City Stefan Krumm and walked away with tons of prizes from Gnu Snowboards, Arnette Eyewear, Lib Tech Snowboards, POW Gloves, Poler Stuff, Snowboarder Magazine, High Cascade Snowboard Camp and Snowboard Connection. This was a perfect end to an amazing year of GHG stops…the future of snowboarding is in good hands. Look for even more stops next year!

After a crazy month of tradeshows, computer crashes, Tube City, Boxes for Days, LBS at Mt Baker and general poor time management, I was able to put together the coverage for Gnu’s Greenhorn Games – Loon Mountain.

Big thanks to the Loon Mountain Terrain Park Crew for going over and above to build us such a perfect course. Snow flakes and old school punk songs filled the air while bananas, hot dogs and Cost Cutter soda filled the bellies. Every kid went home with a big smile, tired legs and some great prizes from Gnu Snowboards, Arnette Eyewear, Lib Tech Snowboards, POW Gloves, High Cascade Snowboard Camp, Poler Stuff and Snowboarder Magazine.

The event that was born in the loins of the Holy Oly Revival as the jib sideshow to the big ‘ol QP has grown quite a following so we decided to give it it’s own day.
Sunny skies and set-up with over 20 green tubes, tanks and giant metal balls awaited us in Central Park at the Summit at Snoqualmie. Residing Tube City Mayor and recent X-Games gold medalist Forest Bailey was in attendance as well as a grip of pro shreds including Lib Rippers Jesse Burtner, Tucker Andrews and Kurt Jenson, Bent Metal and DWD’s Sean Genovese, Think Thank’s Sean Black and Brandon Hammid and Gnu’s Forrest Burki and Nick Ennen. Add in around 70 NW locals looking to get rad, free bananas and hot dogs and an exclusive Superpass Invite to Snowboarder Magazine’s Superpark and you just couldn’t lose.

At the end of the 3 hour jam the election results came in. The City Council spots went to Jay Hergert, Jon Olmstead, Garrett Read, Trevor Schy, Robert Benott and Keala Kole all going home with Lib beanies and Arnette goggles. First Lady Naima Frost took home a new Gnu Girls Park Pickle. Jacob Krugmire was awarded the Poler Couch Surfer award for Sargent at Arms. Bart Pattituchi grabbed the Treasurer position as well as the Superpark Superpass invite as well as a new Gnu Riders Choice…and after a total onslaught on the course, Stefan Krumm was elected Mayor of Tube City. For his efforts he received a custom Tube City trophy (thanks to Terry Parker and Diecutstickers.com) and a GNU Forest Bailey Park Pickle.

Thanks to GNU, Arnette, Poler, Snowboarder Mag, Think Thank, Snowboy Productions, Tim Zimmerman, Mike Yoshida, Sean Lucey, Ross Phillips, Ryan Davis, Matt Crane, Jesse Burtner, Krush, all the riders and the entire entire Summit at Snoqualmie park crew for an amazing day. We can’t wait for the next election!
