Boxes for Days – HCSC Story and Photos

8.8.11 9:11 AM

Boxes for Days stopped by High Cascade Snowboard Camp last week and shit went bananas.
Story by Krush Kulesza, Photos by Alex Mertz

A bunch of dudes with their names on their boards hit it first as Snowboarder Magazine’s “America’s Next Top Pro Model” decided to use the set-up for the jib section of their event. This was awesome. Notables included Bryan Fox who nailed it first try, Gnu’s Forest Bailey and some guy name Kevin Jones…NBD.

Then it was turned over to the campers as they shredded until their backpacks were full of prizes from Lib Tech, GNU, Coal and Poler.

Here are some general observations I made during the event:

The sun was out.

The set-up was fast.

Burtner was witty.

Bundy was digging.

Tucker juggled.

Hupp won a tent.

Mertz looks sad if you drink all of his water.

Kids love bananas.

It was a great time on the glacier…thanks to Preston, Corey Mac and the rest of the amazing crew at HCSC for letting us dork around for the day.

7.25.11 8:14 AM

Riders really raised the bar at this year’s High Ollie contest in America’s Next Top Pro Model presented by the House Boardshop at High Cascade snowboard camp. But Forest Bailey proved he could get the highest of them all with his GNU Psychedelic Park Pickle BTX, proving that Banana Technology has just as much POP as any other camber boards including the so called “Man’s Board”.

For a full recap check out snowboardermag.com

Forest Bailey may be on the come-up on the “urban snowboarding” scene and jib-jam contest circuit, but don’t pigeon-hole him with the “rail rider” label just yet. Bailey was out at Mt. Baker with his fellow 686 young guns last week getting sent by Patrick McCarthy off of all the classic Baker booter…

Crewzin’ Episode 4: Givin

1.6.11 1:34 PM

Forest Bailey and Givin Crew hit up Minnesota in this Jibisode. Forest is riding his GNU Psychedelic Park Pickle

SNOWBOARDER Magazine’s Crewzin’, back for it’s second season, gives you a behind the scenes look at how some of the top film crews in the game get work done. In this first episode of the year we follow GIVIN while filming in Minnesota for their upcoming movie, “ONE”. Keegan Valaika, Jonas Michilot, and Forest Bailey session a water tower while Aaron Hooper shoots the video and Burton photographer, Blotto, covers the stills. In their first year, GIVIN is the creation of Keegan Valaika, his Gnarly Clothing crew, and cinematographer Aaron Hooper. A film company focused on real riding and the raw scene which surrounds it. Keep your eye out for more edits from these guys.
