The event was born in the loins of Lib Tech’s Holy Oly Revival…starting as the side show to the ariel trickery and the 1000 method onslaught of the giant quarterpipe it grew like all good fungus grows…year after year it adapted, progressed and now, like the cheese in the classic kids song Farmer in the Dell, it stands alone. Make your travel arrangements now, because all roads, flights and ferry rides eventually lead to Tube City – Population Radness!

The event will consist of a highly creative zone of metal tubes, lift towers, propane tanks and other assorted and recycled metal in a hike-able, skatepark inspired layout.

“The Summit is known for it’s fleet of round, cold steel” says Lib Tech pro and Ballard resident Jesse Burtner, “Let’s get tubed!”

“I was just really stoked to use a reference to the Farmer in the Dell in the press release.” said event creator Krush Kulesza.

Prizes will be given out to people who deserve em and someone will we appointed the MAYOR of TUBE CITY for downright awesomeness.

Pat Bridges and the fine folks at Snowboarder Magazine are also giving out a SUPERPASS invite to Superpark to one deserving shred at the end of the event. This is a pretty big deal.

Asym Sym Sync is designed with the body’s asymmetry front to back, but symmetry side-to-side in mind. Snowboard turn mechanics are completely different on your toe side than on your heel side. The Duck Asym of the Asym Sym Sync balances the amount of board contact behind and in front of your feet for stable, balanced pop and float.

On the heel side, a shorter contact length allows for turns and reactions with power that are taken at an inherently lower angle. A softer flexing core construction on the heel side allows the board to flex into a tighter arc at a lower angle. On the toe side, anatomically its possible to tip a  board up into a very aggressive angle of attack. Gnu Impossible Asym Sym Sync Pickle Page

Jamie Anderson, the lone American in Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle, set a Winter X Games Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle Finals scoring record with a 95.33 on her final run to capture gold. The gold was Anderson’s third in Snowboard Slopestyle and her sixth total medal in the event.  Last year she captured the bronze and said it was nice to see her hard work in training this year paying off. 

“I guess I was on point today,” Anderson who last took gold in the event in 2008. “The last few years I was trying to learn some new tricks and they weren’t all the way there. Now they kind of are.”

Due to the freshly fallen snow, most of the competitors struggled to keep their speed over the series of jumps.  But Anderson was able to navigate the conditions for the top spot.

“The jumps were definitely really tough to get dialed in but once I got it down I was pretty happy,” Anderson added.

The Slopestyle course is approximately 1,600-feet long with six features and a vertical drop of 280-feet.  Snowboarders attempt multiple tricks throughout their run on specially designed jumps, rails, boxes and other obstacles. Slopestyle is judged on creativity, trick completion and style.  The competitors are ranked based on the best score of their three runs.

He showed up to Aspen just one hour before Thursday’s elimination round fresh off two weeks of riding powder at Mt. Baker. The Vermonter’s skate influenced take on snowboarding is decidedly un-kosher. He rides hard, wins contests (even X Games!), wears sweaters, is salty and has achieved supreme balance through asymmetry. Congrats Forest!!

“I can’t believe this,” said an overwhelmed Bailey. “I never thought I would come to X Games let alone win a medal. X Games 2012 was sick; the setup was awesome and the crowd was awesome.”

Bailey’s total score of 88 was five points better than Minnesota’s Ryan Paul, who finished with 83 points and the silver. Truckee, California’s Nick Visconti’s score of 76 earned him the bronze.

Returning for a second year, the Snowboard Street contest features 10 of the world’s best street athletes putting their skills to the test on urban-inspired terrain features. Athletes are judged on aggressive execution of maneuvers, degree of difficulty of maneuvers, variety of maneuvers, originality and style.

“Of the six women invited to compete today, Maria DeBari topped the talented field with a score of 80.67; twenty-five points ahead of the next competitor. Honing her skills on Mt. Baker’s big mountain lines, DeBari chose a smart line, allowing her to ride fast and flawlessly down the steep face. Finishing second today is Margo Rozies of France with a score of 55.00. Third place goes to Snowbird’s Shannan Yates, overall The North Face Masters Tour Champion from 2011 with a score of 43.33. “- FWT
