Mervin Announces the GNU Park Pickle

12.1.08 7:10 PM

Newport Beach, CA
At the North American sales meeting for Gnu Snowboards, plans for the GNU Park Pickle were unveiled. The Patent Pending Proprietary Park Pickle Product will be included in the 09/10 Gnu Snowboard line. Based on the idea that heelside turns require more leverage than toeside turns, the Park Pick will have a deeper sidecut on the heelside. The board is a true twin shape with a centered stance so it can be ridden with either goofy or regular and includes Mervin Mfg’s exclusive use of Banana Technology.

Pete Saari, VP of Marketing at Mervin had this to say. “The Park Pickle achieves perfect balance through asymmetry, a deeper sidecut and asymmetric core on the heel edge balances your foots asymmetry and the different turn mechanics between heel and toe turns. Twin Asymmetric Banana Magnetraction design is the future of all terrain freestyle performance snowboards. Pickle Power!”

A limited run of 300 Park Pickles for North America will be built and released for sale to select Authorized Gnu Dealers in mid December.

So this board going to be super flexy? Because I know that Gnu doesn’t have a super flexy board like the signal park rocker or the capita horrorscope (street btx maybe close). So how flexy is this board? Is it for straight up park riding? Also, what sizes is it going to come in?

This thing is gonna be sweet!!! Magna, Banana, True Twin, with a deeper heelside edge!!!
True that SC has deeper sidecuts on their straight old school heelside edges, but I am going to trust USA-Made Magnetraction-Banana-Pickle combo design from Mervin any day!

Your so right Max B. A snowboard with magne-traction, banana, and a deaper side-cut for the park. Probably going to be a killer snowboard for the park, and win a bunch of Good Wood tests. It will probably even be a blast to ride, and make snowboarding super fun, so even though you have to spend $50.00 bucks for a lift ticket it wont matter, because this board will bring joy to your life. Shit, these guys are even keeping jobs in the U.S. and building there boards here, but yeah no big deal. Would you go out with a chick with a pancake ass, a messed up grill, but a nice pair of tits, or would you date a chick with a nice ass, a beautiful face, and a pair of killer tits? Sure, Santa Cruz might have came out with a deaper side-cut, but I would rather go with the chick and board with the whole package. What has Santa Cruz contributed to the sport of snowboarding lately????? Exactly!

I had an Aggression Tarquin back in about 1989 that was built this way. And a Nitro Diablo a couple years after that. I was bummed when the industry forgot about this, and I’m stoked to see it coming back!

I think this tech would be wierd if they put it in a non true twin cuz youd have to make a goofy and regular version. and some people wouldnt pay attention and would buy the wrong one.

just got the pickle and tried it out yesterday with a couple other boards that are coming out next year at loon mtn. its the best board ive ridden in a LONG time. super snappy! its a midwide and pretty darn stiff, but you would’nt want it to be any softer. it dosn’t need to be with the banana camber. the thing is basically a beefed up skate banana. oh yeah it made the ice pipe its bitch, didn’t scrub out once!

I picked one up at Ground Zero in Sacramento two days ago and rode it yesterday. The absolute funnest board I have ever ridden. I knew it would be sick cause I demoed the banana before. It’s like that but handles better. If you haven’t been on the banana, you don’t know what you’re missing.

I have an original 156 skate banana and love it! To be able to go from park to powder without changing boards or your stance is off tha hook! Gonna demo a pickle if I can. Made in the USA(near Canada)!!!

how’s the flex, rate it if you can. i have an apo selekta, stiff but poppy. I’ve ridden the ns evo-r and the capita horrorscope. both are fun. i’d say the evo was a tank, could take a serious beating, what about this thing?

Yes you can get them in Oz for 09. I just deposited $300 on mine from switchboard in newi. Was told RRP was $799, but seems it is now $950, may still be a bit cheaper yet.

idk… reverse camber isn’t for everyone… banana was nice but i like more aggressiveness… with there being soooo many different variations of camber, reverse camber, rocker and camber.. blah blah blah… the reson everyone falls in love with reverse camber is it ease of operation… personal i think it feels dead…

i have a park pickle 1.53 whit black base and i love it, it has the right ammount of flex, speed, torsion. i think its becouse the people in mervin wants a super mega board that can do it all. and i think that they make to the bulls eye (i think the only wrong of the board its the name becouse people gona think that this is a especific park board. THIS IS A SNOWBOARD becouse you can do all, like carve, jumps, rails, stairs, pow, butters anithing your nasty mind has it).
