Twin Asym. Banana
The Pickle has been collecting awards this season, and it was by far the most demoed girls board at HCSC in 2011. Banana between your feet for easy riding, catch-free park freestyle performance, and unreal float in the powder. The Pickle is snappy and fun, and it does whatever you ask it to. It’s a park slayer, willing to get dirty on concrete, metal and wood, yet it will still turn gracefully on any frozen surface thanks to the Magne-Traction and asymmetric shape. Your body is asymmet- ric, it only makes sense that your board is asymmetric too. Gnu Pickles with a deeper heel side sidecut and unique asym core, are designed around progressive riding and modern freestyle duck stances in all terrain. 9 year team rider Bryn Valaika put it to the test all season getting creative on and off the mountain.

- About the Art
This graphic was a happening between two visual experimenters: Matt French and Gnu art director Tim Karpinski. Collaberating back and forth from different states of mind they arrived at a place where it was dark and bright and the sky light up the cosmos. Look deeper at: Timothykarpinski.com & Mattfrench.com.
Board Tech
Handbuilt in the USA
Every Gnu is handmade by snowboarders with jobs in the USA.
Balance Thru Asymmetry
Asymmetric sidecuts and construction to balance the different turning mechanics required for heel side turns and toe side turns. Your body is asymmetric, your snowboard should be asymmetric.
PBTX
All terrain rocker placed specifically between your feet where it belongs. Full tip-to-tail edge contact when you stand on your board for all terrain performance. Banana Tech is easy to ride, rips the hardpack and ice, kills the jibs and floats unbelievably. Bananas!
Sintered Base
Compression hardened amorphous UHMW skived from the billet to create the toughest, fastest, best wax holding base material around. Slides best and fastest when waxed regularly to match local snow conditions.
Magne-Traction
“Turns ice into powder”
Serrated edges give great edge hold all over the mountain especially on hard pack and blue ice!
Asym. Toeside and Heelside Specific Sidecuts
Toe side: More finesse through your toes and precise fingertip like edge control. Increased angle of edge attack can be achieved through cumulative articulation of toe, ankle and knee joints. Balance.
Heelside: More power through the heels. A lower angle of edge attack and more power can be achieved due to natural joint mechanics. Stomp.
Asym. Mervin AG / Aspen Core
ASYM. MERVIN AG/ASPEN SUSTAINABLE WOODCORE: ASPEN / ALT. GENETICS / EISS 9
- Lighter / Stronger. A perfect combination of Aspen, even more ultra lightweight genetically altered wood core and EISS 9. Perfect for freestyle domination.
Wood Core Weirdness!
In 2009 the world’s fastest growing trees in the Gnu Eco Timber farm benefited from a combination of moist evenings, diffused daylight sunshine and being on the north American avian flyway…abundant natural nitrogen from goose and duckdroppings resulted in a exceptional harvest of long fibered lightweight poppy woods that we call “nature’s fiberglass”. This very exceptional crop has been carefully seasoned and built into cores and is the light poppy center of our 2012 Gnu Snowboards.

Tell me a story about a day on your board:
I rode the Pickle as my main snowboard all season, on all terrain, though definitely not a ton of powder since powder was lacking where I was most of the season. I traveled to Japan for the Holy Bowly, an event put on by Krush and Snowboarder Mag, and sponsored by Lib and Gnu. It's a new event, basically a snow equivalent of a skate bowl. The Pickle was ideal in this setting because the Magne-Traction enabled me to carve around and get the pop I needed when I wanted to air out and all. I love my board since it's so responsive to exactly the way I ride! I can only rave about how well it rode in all the different conditions!
