Quiver Killing Freestyle

Velvet Guru is the quiver killer. As our first EC2 board in the women’s line, it’s going to have a killer breakout season. Of course it’s smooth and stylish like all things velvet. It makes snowboarding easier and more fun, like all things Mervin. EC2 brings all the tech to the table in a subtle blend that reminds you of your favorite velvety smooth beverage; snappy, poppy, stable, bold, bright, and full of flavor. Don’t overlook this board, the E makes it Extra special!

  • About the Art

Christina “Pika” Burtner, inspired by the jungle and all it's wildlife, created this graphic for the Velvet Guru's launch. Jungle dreams, skinny jeans, and black velvet all inspired this bold, bright and playful artwork. The featured jungle creatures are smooth and stylish like the ladies who ride this board.

Board Tech

Handbuilt in the USA

Every Gnu is handmade by snowboarders with jobs in the USA.

EC2 BTX

The perfect quiver killer. Rides halfway between Banana Tech and C2. Effortlessly floats the pow, kills the jibs and has the pop and tip-to-tail stability to stomp whatever you launch. Banana Rocker between your feet, elliptical camber at the tips and tails.  Don’t eat the brown Banana.

Co-Extruded Base

A Gnu sublimation system exclusive oddity. Hard, fast and virtually maintenance free.  Loves a good wax job but, still slides well when you forget to wax.

Magne-Traction

“Turns ice into powder”
Serrated edges give great edge hold all over the mountain especially on hard pack and blue ice!

True Twin Geometries

Twin (equal length and equal width) tip and tails combined with a centered radial sidecut. Rides equally well in both directions with a focus on freestyle. Park, powder, pipe: perfect.

Bi-Axial Glass

2 way fiber orientation. Engineered to make the difficult easy.

Mervin A.5 Sustainable Woodcore

MERVIN A.5 SUSTAINABLE WOODCORE: ASPEN / EISS 5 SIDEWALLS
- Full Aspen with EISS 5 edge pop / strength.

Wood Core Weirdness!
The world’s fastest growing trees in the Gnu Eco Timber farm benefited from a combination of moist evenings, diffused daylight sunshine and being on the north American avian flyway…abundant natural nitrogen from goose and duck droppings resulted in a exceptional harvest of long fibered lightweight poppy woods that we call “nature’s fiberglass”. This very exceptional crop has been carefully seasoned and built into cores and is the light poppy center of our Gnu Snowboards.

Tell me a story about a day on your board:
My Velvet Guru EC2 BTX or as I call it my Love Guru really helps me try and soar when riding the halfpipe. Why do I call it the love guru? Maybe it's just because the board is my love, my one and only love at the moment. I've ridden it all season this year, I strap it to my truck (my mini cooper) and ride it in everything... powder, jumps, rails, pipe and I love it, it's a great board! EC2 makes it easy to go from one thing to the next, because I don't really like to switch up my equipment much, I just find something that works and stick with it!
