We have discovered that some ankle straps on the 2012-2013 Gnu bindings may crack creating an unsafe fall hazard. In conjunction with the CPSC we are voluntarily replacing the ankle straps on all the 2012-2013 models.
Please know that our greatest concern is the safety of our customers, friends and riding partners. We are working diligently to ensure that every potentially affected binding ankle strap is replaced as quickly as possible.
If you purchased a 2012/2013 GNU binding, immediately discontinue use until you confirm your bindings are not part of the replacement program or you receive replacement straps.
To identify if your bindings are covered and order replacement straps use the Model Identification and Replacement Order Form.

GNU is voluntarily conducting this recall to prevent product failure and prevent potential injuries.
- How can I tell if my product is affected?
We are replacing the ankle straps on the following GNU binding models:

213610 – 213640
213510 – 213540
213305 – 213355
213205 – 213235
213105 – 213115
214405 – 214435
214305 – 214335
214205 – 214230
214105 – 214130
214005 – 214010
The recall only affects the 12/13 model season bindings. Check the images on the Model Identification and Replacement Order Form to see if your bindings match exactly. If you still have the original packaging you can check the model sticker SKU# against the list above or with the CPSC Press Release.
- How do I tell if my straps have been replaced?
Replacement straps will have a date stamp located on the strap core under one the adjustment straps cam buckles.
- How can I take advantage of the recall?
Go to our Model Identification and Replacement Order Form Page to identify which model and color you own and enter your shipping info. We will ship you replacement straps at no charge. Contact Mervin Manufacturing toll free at (800) 905-0551 for more information.
- What is the problem with the products?
The ankle straps can break posing a fall hazard.
- My binding strap seems to be okay. Can I continue using them?
No. Even though your product appears to be okay, we are asking all customers to immediately stop using them and participate in this recall by going to our Model Identification and Replacement Order Form Page or call Mervin Manufacturing at (800) 905-0551.
- I no longer have the receipt. Can I still obtain ankle replacement straps?
Yes. You can still obtain replacement straps without a receipt.
