RECALL NOTICE: 2012/2013 Winter Season GNU Bindings

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Press Release – View Here

We have discovered that some ankle straps on the 2012-2013 Gnu bindings may crack creating an unsafe fall hazard. In conjunction with the CPSC we are voluntarily replacing the ankle straps on all the 2012-2013 models.

Please know that our greatest concern is the safety of our customers, friends and riding partners. We are working diligently to ensure that every potentially affected binding ankle strap is replaced as quickly as possible.

If you purchased a 2012/2013 GNU binding, immediately discontinue use until you confirm your bindings are not part of the replacement program or you receive replacement straps.

To identify if your bindings are covered and order replacement straps use the Model Identification and Replacement Order Form.

Just broke my strap piece on Christmas day. Luckily I found this recall notice on Google page while I was searching for a spare part. Hopefully GNU can still provide me with a replacement after a couple of years. Can’t wait to use my own bindings again!

Broke mine during Christmas break, went looking for replacements when I saw that there was a recall so long ago haha. Hoping I can get a replacement, or at least pay for new ones. I can’t find them on the spare parts section of GNU’s site.

Got a trip coming up in a week, hoping to get this sorted out soon. :)

Definitely need to get in on the strap recall but have much bigger issues! Yesterday, while riding, I experienced a catastrophic failure of my front gnu weird binding. It wasn’t the strap that broke but the base itself. They were a gift and have only had them for a little over a month. ?

  • http://www.gnu.com/ Gnu

Yikes! I’m so sorry to hear your binding broke.

  • jeremiah drinkard

I requested a new ankle strap months ago and filled out 2 replacement forms and have yet to receive my new strap??? So is this all just a scam or what

  • jeremiah drinkard

The whole strap broke not the buckle

  • http://www.gnu.com/ GNU

    Hi Jeremiah,
I’m so sorry to hear you’re having issues!
It is not a scam, I don’t work in the warranty department, so I’m not sure exactly what the situation is, but I believe we are waiting on a shipment of new replacement parts.

  • Jeremiah Drinkard

So you haven’t forgot about me? I have no problem waiting I would just like to know if I’ll have the part before next season?

  • Jeremiah Drinkard

You say you don’t work in the warrenty dept. So should I email them?

  • http://www.gnu.com/ GNU

Hey Jeremiah, have you just filled out a Spare Parts from? Or have you also filled out a warranty form?
I’d recommend a warranty form if your binding broke. That will go directly to our warranty department.

    Here is a link:

  • Игорь

Hello. My GNU Mutant 12/13 upper strap has cracked. I am in Ukraine now. I am tried to fill your request link – http://www.gnu.com/support/spare-parts/request-form/ , but problem in a telephone number.
Where do I go? Because I broke my rib mounts in the fall.

  • Игорь

    No reply?

  • http://www.gnu.com/ GNU

    I’m sorry about that!
The best course of action is going to be filling out that warranty claim form.
A phone number isn’t required, so as long as you have your name, email address and a can describe the situation you should be just fine! The forms are forwarded directly to our warranty department, and they are in charge of replacement parts and repairs.
