GNUcci snowboards and bindings, One Ball Jay, Northwest Snowboards, Smith Optics, The Levitation Project
Goofy, more ways than one
Ranging from 22-23, depending on how I want to ride
Gnu: Where are you calling home base this season? Forrest: The Mojave, my mobile attack unit. www.mojavechronicles.com
Gnu: How was your summer? Did you travel to any fun destinations? Forrest: Good, built stuff on Orcas Island, saw some radtacular skating, Childress is OG. Somehow made it back from Chile and Argentina shoestring style, shwashbuckled into some photo shoots, got interrogated at the border, boarded in monkey tail trees.
Gnu: Do you prefer powder or the park? Forrest: Powder parks are everywhere, keep it natty
Gnu: Helicopters or Snowmobiles? Forrest: Splitboard
Gnu: Are you backing the backdoor bindings or conventional two strap bindings? Forrest: I'm backing the door for sure, all mountain destruction. Anatomical, flexible, supportive, functional.
Gnu: Hood or the Southern Hemisphere? Forrest: Both have their draws, its just been Suth Hemi the last two years though.
Gnu: Which board model have you been riding this season? Forrest: 59 BG is my go to, but its all about quivers. Ride it all, master the mountain.
Gnu: What are you looking forward to this winter? Forrest: Doing what I love, finding new terrain, ripping with friends, inspiration, capturing moments, life in the mountains.
Gnu: What is the first trip you have planned this fall? Forrest: Oly Pen.
Gnu: Favorite place to snowboard? Forrest: That's a tough one. Could be anywhere.
Gnu: Who do you look up to in snowboarding? Forrest: This list could go on forever. Temple has definitely been my biggest influence, Craig Kelly epitomizes style, Lynn, Schlosser, Tory Bland, Baker Locs, Nico's Neverland part and all his riding is very inspiring, Gigi, Zac Marben, Nic Sauve, Blauvelt, MFM, Edgers, Blair, Ennen, Burtner, all the NW heads, DCP crushes. I really like all the creativity going on these days. Anything that is fun to watch is inspiring to me. Going big doesn't hurt either. Don't hate on other people's styles. Just improve your own.
Gnu: Do you have a crew? If so who is it that you like to shred with? Forrest: The Wildcard crew is who I mainly film with, we've got a ton of momentum behind us, everyones pushing it super hard. New wildcards coming in all the time, Whittlake, Temple, Shane Stalling. We are we one of the few production companies riders don't have to buy their way into, we are all doing it out of pocket for now, but I have a feeling thats changing soon. Its always rad to fly under the radar with Temp. Wittlake and Fox have been around a bunch. They have pure shred morals. McCarthy is so damn fun to board with. All the Baker locs who get after it. It's fun to just go up solo and see who you run into.
Gnu: Bananas or vegetables? Forrest: Potassium is great. Carrots and moon cabbage, potatoes and pickles, oranges on the arm.
Gnu: What are some of your other hobbies? Forrest: Carpentry, writing, photography, filmmaking, traveling, lurking.
Gnu: Are you competing in any contests this coming season? Forrest: NFM, Baker Banked, having the most fun.
Gnu: Will you be racing at the Legendary Banked Slalom this year? If so do > you have any wagers on the table? Forrest: Yes, no wagers yet. Can't wait for PRR (post race relief).
Gnu: What videos did you film with this season? Forrest: Wildcard Movie's "The Saturday Night Ride"
Gnu: Who are you filming with this coming season? Forrest: Wildcard mainly, B Fox also has a project that he's doing however the hell he wants, just about riding the mountains, Wittlake is working on that as well. Possible Think Thank and Pirate cameos in the works, the Pirates are rad, they hung out at Baker a bunch last spring, Vitamin R, skating, frolfing, lots of fun.
Gnu: Blondes, Brunettes, or Red Heads? Forrest: Theres something about those Reddies.
Gnu: Any other projects you would like to talk about? Forrest: Making snowboarding and the art of mastering the mountains is my lifelong project.
Gnu: What would you say is the best part about riding for GNU? Forrest: Northwest pride, going to Sequim and meeting who makes the boards then grabbing some waves with 'em.
