Gnu: Where is home? Maria: Bellingham, WA.

Gnu: What do you want to be when you grow up? Maria: When I am old I only want to be able to look back on my life and say, "Damn, that was fun." I hope to be able to find a compromise between responsibility and having a good time. I know it exists because my parents are doing it.

Gnu: Your perfect paradise is...? Maria: A cabin in the woods out in the middle of nowhere with a few animals and a sweet garden.

Gnu: Your perfect snowboard is...? Maria: One hundred and fifty-six centimeters long, responsive yet limber, crud killer, pow slayer.

Gnu: It's 32 degrees and "snowing." You are...? Maria: Riding PNW hero snow at Mt. Baker.

Gnu: It's -20 degrees and clear. You are...? Maria: Exploring the backcountry on my splitboard and wishing it to warm up because there is a reason I live in Washington, not Colorado.

Gnu: What is in your pockets on the hill most days? Maria: Chapstick, snacks, and a present for whoever gives me a ride home.

Gnu: What makes you a good friend? Maria: Ask Danielle Davis.

Gnu: What makes you a good snowboarder? Maria: I love snowboarding!

Gnu: What was the best Christmas present you ever got? Maria: I got my very first snowboard for Christmas. That changed a lot of things.

Gnu: What do you eat for breakfast? Maria: Always oatmeal if it's a powder day, or else Cheerios.

Gnu: Dessert? Maria: My brother's girlfriend likes to bake. We usually invite her over if someone has a sweet tooth.

Gnu: Who is your hero, mentor, muse? Why? Maria: My hero is Dave Sommers because he is living the dream and he doesn't care if anyone knows.

Gnu: If you were reincarnated as some other plant or animal, what would it be? Maria: I would like to be a brown bear so I could cruise around munching on blueberries and go fishing for salmon.

Gnu: What sound or noise do you love or hate? Maria: The house I grew up in had a tin roof and I loved to fall asleep listening to the rain falling on it.
